Rock River Players Present David Mamet’s “Glengarry Glen Ross”

The Rock River Players present David Mamet’s edgy drama, Glengarry Glen Ross November 10-12 at the Players’ home in Williamsville and Nov 17-18 at the Hooker Dunham in Brattleboro.

According to director Bahman Mahdavi, the play is “Masterfully written– an unrelenting story of small-time, cut-throat real estate salesmen trying to grind out a living by pushing plots of land on reluctant buyers, in a never-ending scramble for their share of the American dream.

“We enter the coarse and unforgiving world of 1980s real estate sales,” Mahdavi—also co-artistic director of the Rock River Players continues—”and in classic Mamet fashion, characters speak in speedy fragmented bursts and bulldoze their way through one another in what is ultimately one long, desperate struggle for professional dominance. Old Shelly “The Machine” Levene is fighting tooth and nail just to stay in the game while the king of commissions, Richard Roma, continues to demolish his competition. And who in this office was desperate enough to break in and steal the good leads? But is it really about salesmen, or is it about a bankrupt culture that produces and nurtures them?”

“The play is harsh, and with a very postmodern approach to the concepts of truth and reality that make us realize the winding road from Reagan to Trump,” adds cast member Adrienne Major

The production features Jim Bombicino, Alan Darling, Jay Gelter, Phil Kramer, Jon Mack, Adrienne Major, John Moran, John Ogorzalek. Cherie Moran is assistant director; Peter Broussard is on lights.
