WILLIAMSVILLE – The Rock River Players (RRP) present Festivus, a Cabaret, Friday, January 6 and Saturday, January 7 at 8 PM at the South Newfane School House, intersection of Dover and Auger Hole Roads, South Newfane.
Director Annie Landenberger notes that “the cabaret, with deep roots in France and Germany in the early 20th century, has historically been a trend-setting form of entertainment featuring a variety of performance styles for an audience that’s typically enjoying from small café tables, which we’ll have. Performances are usually introduced by a master of ceremonies who will be veteran Rock River Player, Bill Lincoln. Moreover, cabarets are typically adult-focused with a heavy dose of subversion.” Landenberger adds: “Cabaret has been the hot bed of creative energy for centuries. In its earliest form, it gave us out-of-the-box perspective and material. With a collection of scenes, songs, satire, and surprises –and in keeping with the mission of the cabaret– the RRP evening promises to be an apt way to welcome in an unknowable year.”
Festivus, named for the holiday Seinfeld invented, features Rock River Players known to area audiences from the first three RRP productions, as well a few special guests. Admission is $10 pp and includes sweet and savory treats. Cabaret goers are asked to bring their own beverages. For reservations call 802-348-7156 #2 or write firstname.lastname@example.org.
